Why Aitutaki?
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to Aitutaki?
You need to fly to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, with Air New Zealand (www.airnewzealand.co.nz) or Pacific Blue (www.flypacificblue.com), and then fly to Aitutaki with Air Raro (www.airraro.com)
What are the wind conditions for kiteboarding?
Exile and Honeymoon Islands are low-lying sandbars proving flat water riding on the lee side of the islands and wind chop on windward side of the islands. The wind is usually between 12-25kts East to South East during the Trade season (May-Oct). During the hot season (Oct-May) the winds tend more northerly and blow 15-30kts with passing Low Pressure systems in the tropics.
Is it good for Beginners?
The conditions for beginners are near to perfect; consistent wind, 15-25kts, knee to waist deep warm water, sandy bottom (no nasty coral).
Is the center good for advanced and pro-kiteboarders?
The Aitutaki kiteboarding centre is a dream spot for all levels of the sport. The large areas provide heaps of room to explore and flat water to work on freestyle and wakestyle tricks.
What kind of accommodation are available?
Aitutaki accommodation has something for every budget and comfort level.

What can non-kiteboarders (do they exist?) do from the kite centre?
The kiteboarding centre offers a place to watch kiteboarding and chill, and maybe decide if you would like to try the sport. There is snorkeling directly off Exile Island behind the center and next door is Tapuaetai (one foot island) which also has some nice snorkeling. If you are really adventurous Motukitiu is about a 300-350 meter wade & swim to the South of the center and offers world class snorkeling on the South end, also the island is home to many of the local seabirds, (Frigates, Blue Footed Boobie birds, Pilot birds, Terns, White Herons, Blue Herons).
What if there is no wind?
Other activities on Aitutaki include: Chilling, Scooter Hire, Scuba diving, Lagoon cruises, Island Tours, Snorkeling and deep sea Fishing.
