Aitutaki Lagoon - Cook Islands
We are a Kiteboarding Centre & School situated in the Aitutaki lagoon, Cook Islands. The best kiteboarding in Aitutaki requires boat transfers out to the sandbars "Honeymoon' and 'One Foot'. Kiteboard Aitutaki provides accommodation, boat transfers, Kitesurf lessons, and rentals to the kiteboarding public. In 2009 we had a shelter on the sand bar (Exile island) providing shelter for kiteboarders, which we are replicating for 2010.
The Cook Islands receive Trade Winds from May-Oct, ranging from 15-30kts. The pattern of the trades seems to follow a 10-12 day cycle. From 10kts the wind builds to 25 kts taking around five days. For a couple of days the wind hovers around 25-30knts before dropping away to 10 kts over the following 5 days.
The kiteboarding centre provides kiteboarding lessons and instruction from qualified iKO instructors from beginner to advanced levels. We have a dedicated support boat, sick locations and wicked conditions. Equipment hire is also available, we carry North, Cabrinha and Airush kites and Underground boards. We believe this is one of the best kiteboarding locations in the world for a kite school and the best conditions for kite lessons anywhere!

2009 was a great season and thanks to everyone who helped us make it happen.
As kitesurf tourism is relatively new to Aitutaki we understand the pressure of tourism development. We believe that tourism needs to be managed to ensure the interests of All are met and the location is not adversely affected by over development.
Our Mission
"To ensure the quality and longevity of Aitutaki as a Kitesurf Tourist destination Kiteboard Aitutaki recognises the need to provide toilets and basic services on the sandbars. It is our vision to provide a Shelter and compost toilet on both Kitesurfing Locations for the use of all Kiters enjoying the area."
